Humpback whales pass through Niue as they breed and raise their calves annually between July and September, and because Niue’s reef drops quickly into the deep blue, you can see whales as close as 20 metres from the shore.  Spinner dolphins also play close to the shore on a regular basis.  This is one of the few places in the world where you are able to be in the water to swim in the wild with these beautiful creatures.
